Future Royal 1, Week 6 - Upcoming Week
Welcome!
We concluded our 2nd meet of the season, Swimfest, and it went super well! We gained great experience being ready for races in a more busy environment, showed what we had been practicing on with backstroke and freestyle, and we got to have a great experience as a whole SSC club together over the course of the meet. I was super proud of all the swimmers, and even when we had a few missed races and DQs, the kids handled it well and we had a great attitude!
Thank you so much for any part you had in making this weekend go smoothly, even if that was just getting your kid to and from the meet. I know many of you have busy schedules, but taking time for things like this makes things go great!
For announcements/important items, we have a few things:
We will most likely have a combined Friday practice (barring something changing) with FR2 this week!
We will begin to work on breaststroke and more turn and start work this week, I might be getting in the water with the kids to help demonstrate that!
We had been handing out shirts last week, but if your swimmer has not gotten a shirt, please email me @[email protected] so I can get a list going!
Almost all of us who aren't brand new have it already, but if you haven't, go ahead and visit the Elsmore swim shop to make sure your swimmer has Fins and a Kickboard! Additionally, Elsmore recently received a stock of our "Meet" swim suits, so go ahead and stop by there to purchase a team suit we can use for meets!
There is now a groupme for FR1, go to this link to join the groupme! You'll need to provide an answer to the joining question (so we don't have people outside of the group join). Feel free to message about any questions of other parents or myself in there, I will do my best to monitor that chat regularly.
I mentioned this last week, but we want to represent our Royal colors, so we have what Coach Andy calls "Royal Fridays!" (an HSE tradition) where every Friday students/athletes, and coaches/teachers wear blue colors (specifically the shirt!)
Lastly, for those of you at the meet that noticed some groups getting goodiebags or other fun things, we can get that for our group too! Here's the following message from Kathy Nelson, who's the lead for the Team Parents Committee.
We are looking for a few more parents to join the Team Parents Committee for the FR1 group!! Are you interested in becoming a little more involved in SSC? Are you wanting to support and foster the culture and the cohesion of the FR1 group? Are you wanting to get to know the FR1 athletes and families? Being an FR1 Team Parent will allow you to do just that!

- This will be a meet that I hope many FR1 swimmers can attend! We hope to have a large SSC contingent going and I will hopefully be there all day Saturday and Sunday.
SSC Barndance Fall 2024 **AN EVENT, NOT A MEET****
- Saturday Oct. 26th, 5-8PM at Sleepybear compound
- This is an event where the whole team gets together and celebrates the beginning of the fall season!
- The kids make a dance *lead and practiced with the group/team mom and al the groups perform their dance at the barndance!
Regardless of my poor memory, here is the link to our calendar page that should have information about any upcoming meets (such as the SSC Supersplash Sept. 24, and SSC Swimfest 2024!) and provide a spot to sign up for volunteer slots!

- I will be the one assigning swimmers to events, so do not do so, but as noted you may leave comments if you want to suggest an event.
