Welcome to Southeastern Swim Club!

We are so excited to have you be part of the Royal Family! As a new family to the club, we are here to help you navigate everything you need to know about swimming and what to expect out of this season.

First, do not let all this information overwhelm you. You are surrounded by a community of experienced parents and coaches who are happy to answer any questions you may have. Do not be afraid to reach out for anything.

First question might be “what all does my swimmer need?”. That is super simple. See below for the chart of equipment your swimming will need based on their assigned group.

All swimmers will need the following:

  • T-shirt, shorts, socks, and athletic shoes for dryland
  • Swimsuit
  • Goggles
  • Swim cap (mandatory for girls and optional for boys)
  • Kickboard
  • Long fins
  • Mesh bag
  • Water bottle

Below is a chart of additional equipment based on what group your swimmer is in.  If there is an X under an item, it means that is required for that group.

Coach recommendations for training gear can be found here!

They will also receive 3 team shirts and 2 team caps shortly after joining. These will be handed out by your child's coach

Now where do I get all this stuff?

At SSC, we have partnered with Elsmore Swim Shop for all your swimming needs! They have everything you will need plus more! We have a team store with SSC-specific items. These items include the current year's team suit, parkas, on-deck warm-ups, and equipment. Please note that the only thing required is the team suit and group-specific equipment. You can also visit their store to purchase everything as well. Their address is:

Elsmore Swim Shop

4705 E 96th St

Indianapolis, IN 46240

What time does my child's group practice?

A general group practice times can be found here, but please note that each group's lead coach will communicate practice times on a weekly basis in their newsletters that get sent out on Sundays. What each coach communicates for practice times will override the ones on the website.

Swim meets and all you need to know!

Swim Meet FAQ’s and Swim Meet 101 are 2 fantastic resources to learn the ins and outs of swim meets, what they are, and what to expect. Please take your time to read each of these.

Now, how do we sign up for swim meets? There are 2 ways to do that! First, you can go through your account on our website by signing in. Once you are in your account on the website, you will see a list menu on the left-hand side (1). Click on Events & Competition, (2) Meet & Events. This will take you to the page of all listed meets our club is participating in for the season. Now some may gradually be added throughout the year but those will be communicated out.

Within that list, you will find the meet you want to sign your child up for, and click on the Attend/Decline (3) button on the right. Once in there, you will see your swimmer’s name(s). Click on their name to activate the declaration screen. Here is where you will select in the drop-down (4) if they can attend or decline their availability for the meet. You can also add notes if there is only 1 day of the meet they cannot swim you can note that there.

Once you have that completed, click the save changes and that is it!

The other way to sign up for a meet is through the SportsEngine app. This app can be found on all app stores and looks like this.

Once you have this downloaded, you will log in to it using the same credentials as you use on the website. Once you are in, you will click the 3 lines on the top left side to open the menu. Click on Events & Jobs, then Events & Meet Entries. Here will find the list of all meets again but instead of Attend/Decline, it will say RVSP. Click on that to get to the screen with your swimmer's name(s), click on their name to get to the declaration page, mark yes or no on the radio buttons, add your notes, and then save.

That’s it! Your swimmer will then be assigned events by their coaches closer to the meet date. More important information regarding the meet such as warm up times, arrival times and meet timelines will be communicated by our Head Age Group Coach the week of the meet.

Meet weekends can be fun and busy! Every year, we host 3-4 meets a year. We do have volunteer requirements for each meet that equate to 2 shifts per meet. Our primary meets are SwimFest (October), MLK Invite (January), Northside Invite (February every other year) and Summer Sizzler (June). To read more about the different positions and jobs, click here.

Another important app to have handy is called Meet Mobile. This is available in any app store on all devices and looks like this.

The app is free, but the info you can access is limited (you can only see meets and psyche sheets). To see everything, you will need to subscribe to it ($14/year approx) which will open it up to see heat sheets, results, time drops and more.

Thats it! I know it seems like a lot of information which can be overwhelming, but please do not hesitate to reach out to your coach, group parent or any other experienced swim parent and we will be happy to help answer any questions you may have.
