Welcome to Southeastern Swim School!

Southeastern Swim School is a learn-to-swim program creating water-safe kids around Central Indiana. We strive to ensure all children who come through our program learn the skills and strength to be water-safe around ANY body of water and temperature. We offer a 3:1 class ratio, experienced and passionate instructors, and year-round lessons.

We additionally offer Adaptive Lessons for our Neurodivergent community of swimmers as well as pre-team. This format allows families with children at different ability levels to participate in classes at the same time. Once skills are mastered the swim school director will contact you to let you know your child is ready for the next level!

Southeastern Swim School Levels

Level 1: Comfort & Bubbles

This is the entry-level in our group lesson curriculum. Swimmers are welcomed into the water to sit on the top step or the next one down, where they feel comfortable. They will be gaining confidence in the water, comfortable going underwater and putting their face in the water, and learning how to blow bubbles through their nose & then mouth. This is the foundation for the rest of our swim school. (Must be potty trained)

Level 2: Body Position & Floats

Swimmers learn to float with proper body position unassisted on their front, with face in. They will also learn to float with proper body position on their backs with toes at the surface and face above the water. They will also be introduced to push and glide with a front-to-back rollover to recover. At this level, they will also continue to practice bubbles through the mouth and nose. (Must be potty trained)

Level 3: Safety Roll & Kicking

Swimmers will be taught the proper technique to flutter kick with straight legs and pointed toes on their stomachs and backs to help them move from one point to the next unassisted. They will develop strength through working in streamline, "H" kick earn how to dolphin kick on the stomach from push off. They will continue to learn about the front-to-back safety rollover while they are kicking on their stomach. (Must be potty trained)

Level 4: Freestyle

Learn the proper technique to a side breath for freestyle, progressing away from the full front-to-back safety rollover to just a halfway roll. They will learn the proper technique for freestyle, 3 strokes per 1 breath, and complete a down and back lap unassisted with proper technique (Side breath and arms) - Must be potty trained

Level 5: Backstroke

Swimmers will review proper flutter kicks on their backs and then focus on constant arm movement with proper hand technique. (Thumb out, pinky in) The head should stay back so the proper body line is kept while swimming backstroke. (Kick and arms are in sync with the body floating) - Must be potty trained
