Future Royal 1, Week 7 - Upcoming Week

Welcome!

I hope you're all ready to enjoy Fall Break (for some schools)! A recap of last week: we introduced Breaststroke and that has gone very well! We'll continue to work on that for the rest of this month, and hopefully get to Butterfly by the end of October.

With fall break, there will be practice on Tuesday and Thursday at our normal times, but no worries if you aren't able to come! These practices will be held for anyone who's still in town and wants to swim! We will be combined with FR2 for both days. The following week will look more typical, and we'll start to prepare a bit for the Noblesville meet!

For announcements/important items, we have a few things:

We will NOT have practice on Friday because of the home football game.

We had been handing out shirts a few weeks ago, but if your swimmer has not gotten a shirt, please email me! It is likely we have them but forgot to hand them out/the swimmer wasn't at that practice @[email protected] 

Almost all of us who aren't brand new have it already, but if you haven't, go ahead and visit the Elsmore swim shop to make sure your swimmer has Fins and a Kickboard! Additionally, Elsmore recently received a stock of our "Meet" swim suits, so go ahead and stop by there to purchase a team suit we can use for meets!

There is a groupme for FR1, go to this link to join! You'll need to provide an answer to the joining question (so we don't have people outside of the group join). Feel free to message about any questions of other parents or myself in there, I will do my best to monitor that chat regularly.

I mentioned this last week, but we want to represent our Royal colors, so we have what Coach Andy calls "Royal Fridays!" (an HSE tradition) where every Friday students/athletes, and coaches/teachers wear blue colors (specifically the shirt!) -- NO FRIDAY PRACTICE THIS WEEK!! 

Lastly, for those of you at the meet a couple weeks ago that noticed some groups getting goodiebags or other fun things, we can get that for our group too! Here's the following message from Kathy Nelson, who's the lead for the Team Parents Committee.

We are looking for a few more parents to join the Team Parents Committee for the FR1 group!!  Are you interested in becoming a little more involved in SSC?  Are you wanting to support and foster the culture and the cohesion of the FR1 group?  Are you wanting to get to know the FR1 athletes and families?  Being an FR1 Team Parent will allow you to do just that!

Noblesville Swim Club ICE BREAKER

SSC Barndance Fall 2024  **AN EVENT, NOT A MEET****

  • Saturday Oct. 26th, 5-8PM at Sleepybear compound
  • This is an event where the whole team gets together and celebrates the beginning of the fall season!
  • The kids make a dance *lead and practiced with the group/team mom and al the groups perform their dance at the barndance! (although unless I am mistaken, FR1 is not a group that is required to make a dance)

Turkey Super Splash

  • The Turkey Super Splash is a great opportunity to compete during the 2024-25 short course season. This meet will be held at HSE the morning of Saturday, Nov 23rd.
  • Super Splashes are intrasquad meets (like the Sept 28th one!) that allow our swimmers to compete amongst themselves and is great for swimmers newer to the sport!

Regardless of my poor memory, here is the link to our calendar page that should have information about any upcoming meets (such as the SSC Supersplash Sept. 24, and SSC Swimfest 2024!) and provide a spot to sign up for volunteer slots!

  • If you would like to leave a comment on the meet entry form as to what you'd like your swimmer to swim, you can do so. 
  • I will be the one assigning swimmers to events, so do not do so, but as noted you may leave comments if you want to suggest an event.
