FUTURE ROYALS 2:

Hello everyone!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our FR2 swimmers that participated in the Turkey Splash this weekend! The following swimmers represented FR2 on Saturday - NASH BARR, LAYLA HALVORSON, DONNA JANSSENS, LORRIE JANSSENS, TIMMY LAWRANCE, CHLOE MCINTOSH, VIYAANA SHUKLA, JAMIE VOIGTMAN and KRYSTAL WANG! Our group had a great meet and I am continuously impressed by the hard work that I am seeing!

A few extra special congratulations from the weekend:

  • Nash Barr for snagging not 1 but 2 Divisional Cuts in both the 50 Back and 100 Free!
  • Timmy Lawrance for swimming a full AND legal 25 butterfly that made coaches, officials and parents proud!
  • Chloe McIntosh for choosing to swim the 200 Free and ROCKING IT in the process, dropping 46 seconds!

This week we will continue to focus on starts (backstroke and dives), turns (open and flip turns), finishes and technique for each of the strokes! We will also continue our drill work and builidng up endurance for longer events as we become more successful in 25's, 50's, 100's and 200's!

Hopefully you all received the newly introduced "Off the Walls" Age Group Monthly Newsletter! In this newsletter each group recognized our "Champions in the Pool" for the month of October. Our FR2 "Champions in the Pool" for October are NASH BARR and ADLEY BARKER! Both Nash and Adley have shown so much growth so far this season, particularly in October, and have put a lot of focus and effort into all of our club values! I am so proud of both of these wonderful young athletes and cannot wait to see what all they continue to accomplish!

Let's have another GREAT week! :)

***REMINDERS***

  • NO PRACTICE THIS FRIDAY (11/29)! We will return to regular practice on Saturday morning!
  • It is starting to get cooler out so please make sure your swimmer is prepared for the dropping temperatures at the end of practice! I require for all swimmers to be wearing shoes, a shirt/sweatshirt and pants/shorts to leave the pool area. There are also a variety of fall germs going around right now, so if your swimmer is not feeling well please use your best judgement in whether or not they are well enough to attend practice.
  • We do dryland as a group on WEDNESDAY and SATURDAY each week. If your swimmer would like to participate in dryland they MUST be wearing tennis shoes. I do not allow Crocs, sandals or slides of any kind.
  • Please help me remind your swimmers to bring all of their equipment as well as a water bottle to practice every day! Having their own equipment and a drink nearby allows us to move through practice more efficiently and get more work done in the time that we have!
  • A message from some of our committee members in the club!

    • As a way to give back to the community, SSC has partnered with the Fishers Youth Assistance Program (FYAP) to adopt 3 families this holiday season. All Future Royal Groups (1-4) have been matched with a family who has 2 kids and is in need of help.

    • Kathy Nelsen and Stephanie have created a sign-up that includes the quantity, size, color, preferences, and any additional details that were provided to us from FYAP for the FR family. Below you will find a sign up to purchase needs, wishes, general cleaning, hygiene, and food items requested by the family. FYAP noted that unless specified, items do not need to be name-brand.
Beginning Wednesday, November 20th, bins marked with the FR family number (#49) will be placed in the office to the right of the girl's locker room. Please label your item with the family number (either with a sticky note or piece of paper taped to the item) and place it in, or near, the bins. All items need to be in the office to the right of the girl's locker room no later than 6 pm on Friday, December 6th. Swimmers who are able to stay after practice that day (starting at 6:30 pm and ending around 7:00-7:15 pm on the 6th) will help organize, wrap, and label the items. Here is the link to the Future Royal Adopt-A-Family Sign Up!

Please reach out to Kathy or myself with any questions! Thank you for helping make this family's holiday a little brighter!

  • The SSC announcing crew (our wonderful announcers for meets) is looking to grow the group!
    • We would like to extend an invite to any Future Royal Parent who would like to give it a try. We have the November Splash on Saturday, and Matt would be glad to show you the ropes during this club-only event. It is a lot of fun and offers you a front row seat to the action - all while counting towards your volunteer obligation to the club when announcing for one of the club hosted/non-Splash meets. Please feel free to reach out to Matt to let me know if you would be interested - [email protected]

Below are a few important reminders/updates for this week:

  • We are going to be starting up BLUE FRIDAYS again this year! Each Friday, please have your athlete show their ROYAL PRIDE by sporting either a blue shirt/sweatshirt or an SSC/HSE Swimming shirt to school!
  • Please make sure your swimmer has and is bringing all of their equipment everyday! If there is something you haven’t been able to purchase or you have questions, please let me know, but we are really starting to use fins and kickboard especially each day so it is important that we have what we need to be successful.
  • We have suits/warm-ups to try on at the pool so let me know if you would like your swimmer to try anything before ordering the new team apparel for this year! Below is the link for Elsmore Swim Shop to purchase gear, suits and

For those of you who don’t know me already , here is a quick "About Me" to get to know me better!

My name is Kylie Love (formerly Sutherlin, I recently got married) and I am a Royal at heart! I started my swimming journey at SSC in the lessons program at age 6 and ended my competitive swimming career with SSC the summer before my sennior year of college at age 22. I attended Hamiton Southeastern High School and graduated in 2016, helping bring home a State Runner-Up title my senior year while also being part of the pool and school record-setting 400 Freestyle Relay team in the process. After graduating, I went on to swim and Study Elementary Special Education at Eastern Michigan University. I graduated from EMU in December of 2021 with my teaching degree and decided it was time to come home, not only to Indiana, but to HSE/SSC as well! I got a job as a Special Education teacher here at HSE High School in January of 2022 and have loved it ever since. Swimming has been such a huge part of my life for so long and I am thankful to be back at the club that has provided so much to me, working alongside so many coaches who helped get me to where I am today!

OUR GROUP:

We have some familiar faces returning to our group this fall while also welcoming some new swimmers from Future Royals 1 and some who are new to the team all together! Below I have included a "Meet Our Group" chart that will help everyone get to know the members of our FR2 family! :)

This week I would like to welcome 2 new members to our FR2 group - Ruth Carter and Lilah Lambert! They will be moving up from FR1 to join us, so if you see them around, please make sure to make them feel welcome!

SWIM EQUIPMENT:

Please make sure swimmers have all swimming equipment they need for training - labeled with their name and group (FR2) in Sharpie! We will be adding a new piece of equipment this fall ... A SNORKEL! I recommend going to Elsmore Swim Shop with your swimmer so they can help make sure you get a snorkel that will fit!

Now is a great time to check and see if anything needs to be replaced (Fins too small? Goggles leaking? Mesh bag ripped? Kickboard missing?). I have included a list below, as well as the link to the equipment that we need and a phone number/address for Elsmore.

  • Mesh Bag (optional but recommended)
  • Swim Suit
  • Cap (this will be a required piece of equipment in our group this year!)
  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Kickboard
  • Fins
  • SNORKEL :)
