Future Royal 1, Week 14 - Upcoming Week

Welcome!

I hope that everyone had a nice break during the holiday, and is ready to come back and get into December! We'll be working on the same Breaststroke and Butterfly skills this week, along with some more turn and start work.

We introduced him last week at practice, but we have a new coach that will be working with, Aaron Helm! He'll be on deck with FR1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

The only real announcement is that there is a home swim meet this Tuesday (Dec. 3rd) for the HSE high school team! There will NOT be practice this Tuesday accordingly. If you'd like to watch I don't have details, but I could ask some of the other coaches about spectator rules!

For announcements/important items, we don't have too much, but here are our constant reminders:

NO PRACTICE this Tuesday!

  • If your swimmer has not gotten a shirt, please email me! @[email protected]
    • If I don't have them, I will ensure your swimmer is on the list for our staff who prepare the shirt bags.
  • Almost all of us who aren't brand new have it already, but if you haven't, visit the Elsmore swim shop to ensure your swimmer has Fins and a Kickboard! Additionally, Elsmore recently received a stock of our "Meet" swimsuits, so go ahead and purchase a suit we use for meets:
  • There is a GroupMe for FR1, go to this link to join! Feel free to message about any questions of other parents or myself in there, I will do my best to monitor that chat regularly.
  • We want to represent our Royal colors, so we have what Coach Andy calls "Royal Fridays!" (an HSE tradition) where every Friday students/athletes, and coaches/teachers wear blue colors (specifically the shirt!)

  • The SSC announcing crew (our wonderful announcers for meets) is looking to grow the group!
    • We would like to extend an invite to any Future Royal Parent who would like to give it a try. We have the November Splash on Saturday, and Matt would be glad to show you the ropes during this club-only event. It is a lot of fun and offers you a front row seat to the action - all while counting towards your volunteer obligation to the club when announcing for one of the club hosted/non-Splash meets. Please feel free to reach out to Matt to let me know if you would be interested - [email protected]

  • A message from some of our committee members in the club!

    • As a way to give back to the community, SSC has partnered with the Fishers Youth Assistance Program (FYAP) to adopt 3 families this holiday season. All Future Royal Groups (1-4) have been matched with a family who has 2 kids and is in need of help.

    • Kathy Nelsen and Stephanie have created a sign-up that includes the quantity, size, color, preferences, and any additional details that were provided to us from FYAP for the FR family. Below you will find a sign up to purchase needs, wishes, general cleaning, hygiene, and food items requested by the family. FYAP noted that unless specified, items do not need to be name-brand.
Beginning Wednesday, November 20th, bins marked with the FR family number (#49) will be placed in the office to the right of the girl's locker room. Please label your item with the family number (either with a sticky note or piece of paper taped to the item) and place it in, or near, the bins. All items need to be in the office to the right of the girl's locker room no later than 6 pm on Friday, December 6th. Swimmers who are able to stay after practice that day (starting at 6:30 pm and ending around 7:00-7:15 pm on the 6th) will help organize, wrap, and label the items.

  • *IF you've noticed that some groups getting goodiebags or other fun things, we can get that for our group too! Here's the following message from Kathy Nelson, who's the lead for the Team Parents Committee.*

"We are looking for a few more parents to join the Team Parents Committee for the FR1 group!!  Are you interested in becoming a little more involved in SSC?  Are you wanting to support and foster the culture and the cohesion of the FR1 group?  Are you wanting to get to know the FR1 athletes and families?  Being an FR1 Team Parent will allow you to do just that!

If you're interested in being part of the Team Parents Committee for FR1 or want additional information about the role, contact Kathy Nelsen at [email protected]."

If you have any questions or comments for me, feel free to reach out to: [email protected]
