Announcement #1:

Starting this week we will also begin discussing with swimmers individually the possibility of swimming in the MLK Meet and what they would like to swim (for reference, the MLK Invitational will be taking place on January 17-19).

These conversations with swimmers will happen right before, during, or right after practice. We will only be talking with a few swimmers a day to ensure we are maximizing practice time and attention on deck, so if your swimmer notices that they weren’t immediately talked to on Monday or Tuesday, it is likely that we are planning on talking with them later in the week.

We ask that you please look at the “MEET LETTER” posted on the Southeastern Swim Clubs Team Calendar and figure out what events are on each day to prepare your swimmer for this discussion. If your swimmer already knows what days and/or events they would like to swim, please do not hesitate to sign them up immediately. This will not only ensure their spot in the meet but can allow our conversations with swimmers to go more quickly. [NOTICE: Registration Deadline is January 6th so please DO NOT DELAY if they plan on attending.]

If you know your swimmer wants to swim in the meet but does not know the events they would like to try yet, please still sign them up and we as coaches will take care of entering them into races after we talk with them.

If you know your swimmer will NOT be swimming - either because of personal interest, schedule conflicts, or other factors - please still click the team calendar link provided above and select “decline” to help us streamline which swimmers we talk to. If you are unable to do this, you can also have the swimmer come up to us during practice and let us know, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Lastly, a reminder that this is a 3-day meet, but you are not required to sign your swimmer up for each day, nor is there a minimum race requirement. If your swimmer only wants to swim a 50 Freestyle on Sunday (or something like that), that is perfectly fine.

If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Announcement #2:

With the MLK meet coming up, this is also a perfect opportunity to get in some volunteer hours. Signups for volunteer work will be linked here and the deadline for this signup is Friday, January 13th.

Any questions you have regarding volunteer work please reach out to Erin Fisher.
