JR1 Week 18 (Janurary 6th- January 12th):
Good Evening Everyone,
Good news as we finally return to our normal schedule. With snow and colder temperatures coming, we promise to keep you updated about any practice cancellations via our Group Me. If you do not have access to our Group Me, links will be provided at the end of this email.
We also ask that you make sure swimmers are dressed in warm clothes and tennis shoes or snow boots as they come into practice, to avoid injury and frostbite.
Practice Schedule this week:
Announcement #1:
IMPORTANT: Sign-Ups for the MLK meet end tomorrow - Monday, January 6th at 5pm.
If your swimmer plans on participating, we ask that you please go to the Team Calendar posted on the Southeastern Swim Club and sign up IMMEDIATELY! Just below the sign-up option you can find the “MEET LETTER” figure out what events are on each day to prepare your swimmer for this discussion. If a coach wasn’t able to speak with your swimmer this week, please go ahead and sign them up for events they know they want to swim, and the coaches will work with that swimmer to make sure it’s appropriate.
A reminder that this is a 3-day meet, but you are not required to sign your swimmer up for each day, nor is there a minimum race requirement. If your swimmer only wants to swim a 50 Freestyle on Sunday (or something like that), that is perfectly fine.
If you know your swimmer will NOT be swimming - either because of personal interest, schedule conflicts, or other factors - please still click the team calendar link provided above and select “decline” to help us streamline which swimmers we talk to. If you are unable to do this, you can also have the swimmer come up to us during practice and let us know, and we’ll take care of the rest. ALL SWIMMERS WHO DO NOT COMMIT TO THE MEET VIA THE TEAM CALENDAR LINK PROVIDED ABOVE ARE ASSUMED TO BE NOT PARTICIPATING.
If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Announcement #2:
The signups for MLK volunteer positions are also still up, but will end this Monday, January 13th. This is a perfect opportunity to get in some volunteer hours. Signups for volunteer work are linked here. Any questions you have regarding volunteer work please reach out to Erin Fisher.
Announcement #3:
The coaches overheard talk this past week about swimmers purposely NOT coming in tennis shoes on days they knew were Dryland to avoid having to participate in certain dryland activities. A reminder that Dryland is typically on Monday and Thursday, and ALL SWIMMERS are expected to come prepared to work out - which includes the correct shoes.
We as coaches could use your help in making sure this behavior does not continue so that swimmers are getting the most out of their workout. Please make sure swimmers come with the correct shoes either on or in their bag.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful evening!
