JR1 Week 26 (February 24th- March 2nd):
Good Evening Everyone:
Thank you to everyone who came and supported our High School team at the Boys Sectional Finals this weekend! It was a lot of great fun and fast swimming, with our Boys team placing 2nd overall in the meet.
This week's schedule is as close to normal as we’ve been for a while, with all our practices running at the appropriate times. This week's Cafe discussion (Wednesday, Feb. 26th) will be on Healthy Habits.
Practice Schedule this week:
Announcement #1: Championship Splash
Championship Splash is coming up fast, running on this coming Sunday, March 2nd. This meet is open to all swimmers, but they are limited to three events within the meet. The purpose of this meet is mainly for our swimmers who are close to divisional cuts and want to try and make it before Divisionals on March 7-9th. I will be speaking mainly with the swimmers who we know are close to cuts this week about participating, but even if your swimmer isn’t close to anything, if they want one more chance to swim before summer season this is a great opportunity!
Warmups are at 7:30am and the meet will start at 8:30am. We will also need timers for the Splash, so if you would please consider signing up and timing for this event, the link is provided here: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/20F0E4BADAC2DA75-55292217-2025
Registration for this meet closes on February 27th, so please act fast and feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Announcement #2: Divsionals
Divisionals is only 2 weeks away and is the very first meet in the season’s championship meet schedule. While I don’t believe we have any swimmers with a divisional time yet, if you know your swimmer has made a cut, the standard registration deadline for that meet is also February 27th. HOWEVER, any swimmers who make divisional cuts at the Championship Splash this coming weekend will also be able to be entered into the Divisional Meet, so there's no reason to fret if you swimmer still needs that extra opportunity.
To those who are new to swimming, meets such as Divisionals, Age Group State, Senior State, and beyond all require minimum or “cut” times in order for your swimmer to participate. If your swimmer does not possess the cut, they will not be invited to sign up for the event. Cuts vary by age, and get faster the older your swimmer gets, so just because they made a cut when they were 10 years old may not mean they have the cut when they turn 11.
If you have any more questions on how “cut” meets work, please feel free to email directly. My hope is that all of our swimmers will eventually make the cut for Divisionals, as it opens the doorway for much more fun, fast, and competitive swimming down the road.
Announcement #3: Indy Fuel Game
You may have received an email a while back from Erin Fisher regarding a club-wide Indy Fuel Outing. If you want to participate in this, the game will be next week on March 2nd AFTER the Splash, and registration deadline is Feb. 26th. A link is provided below if you want to claim your tickets and join us there! Tickets are $22 per person, and our group (being the club) will be seated together.
Hope you all come and I look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you all for making it this far! We’re almost there. Just keep hanging in and with any luck, we’ll be at Divisonals in no time! Take care, and we’ll see you at the pool!
