Future Royal 1, First week of Long Course (Summer) season!
Welcome!
Hope everyone had a great break and is ready to come back stronger than ever for our summer season. Until May (pending an update) our schedule will still be the same as it was during the Fall season. So we will have practice Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 5:20PM to 6:20PM. Below are our normal announcements, and I believe we will have a meeting for FR1 going into this summer season (date/time to be determined).
For announcements/important items this week there isn't much, besides our usual
NOTICE: We coaches were informed this week that the HSE doesn't like us using Door 8 *the door at the back of the pool near the windows* Please have your swimmer go to Door 10 (*Entrance you'd go through coming from the parking lot by the pool, near the football field).
- If your swimmer has not gotten a shirt, please email me! @[email protected]
- If I don't have them, I will ensure your swimmer is on the list. This might take some time.
- If you're new, please visit the Elsmore swim shop to ensure your swimmer has Fins and a Kickboard! Additionally, you can also purchase a suit we use for meets there too:
- There is a GroupMe for FR1, go to this link to join! Feel free to message about any questions of other parents or myself in there, I will be sending updates about practice cancellations/meet updates, etc.
- We want to represent our Royal colors, so we have what Coach Andy calls "Royal Fridays!" (an HSE tradition)
- where every Friday students/athletes, and coaches/teachers wear blue colors (specifically the shirt!)
- The SSC announcing crew (our wonderful announcers for meets) is looking to grow the group!
- We would like to extend an invite to any Future Royal Parent who would like to give it a try. We have the November Splash on Saturday, and Matt would be glad to show you the ropes during this club-only event. It is a lot of fun and offers you a front row seat to the action - all while counting towards your volunteer obligation to the club when announcing for one of the club hosted/non-Splash meets. Please feel free to reach out to Matt to let me know if you would be interested - [email protected]
- *IF you've noticed that some groups getting goodiebags or other fun things, we can get that for our group too! Here's the following message from Kathy Nelson, who's the lead for the Team Parents Committee.*
"We are looking for a few more parents to join the Team Parents Committee for the FR1 group!! Are you interested in becoming a little more involved in SSC? Are you wanting to support and foster the culture and the cohesion of the FR1 group? Are you wanting to get to know the FR1 athletes and families? Being an FR1 Team Parent will allow you to do just that!
If you're interested in being part of the Team Parents Committee for FR1 or want additional information about the role, contact Kathy Nelsen at [email protected]."
Our Group count!
With some swimmers being gone for the season (doing other sports and camps, etc.) and some swimmers moved up, I will have the group count by next week. The number is around 24 swimmers at the moment.
