FUTURE ROYALS 2:
Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! A huge THANK YOU to Coach Crystal and FR3 for combining with our group on Friday while I was out of town!
At the Time Trial last Thursday we had 2 more swimmers add Divisional Cuts for the summer - both COOPER MERCHANT and OWEN PYNE achieved the 50 Backstroke time standard! I am SO excited to have a few more swims in August and will bring our group total up to 3 swimmers participating! Congratulations to BEN, OWEN and COOPER! We are SO proud of you! :)
As we wrap up our summer season, I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who makes everything possible! I am so beyond thankful to have such a wonderful group of swimmers and parents to work with - you all are what makes this job so fun! We can all put in long hours on the pool deck, in the stands and in the pool, but with a great group it makes all the time worth it. To say I am proud of this group this season would be an understatement! Your athletes have blown me away with their dedication, attention to detail and drive to get better this summer! They have worked so hard and achieved so much and I could not be more proud of this group.
You all should have received an e-mail from Coach Blake about SSC hosting FAST starting at the end of June while their pool gets their HVAC system replaced. We are working hard to keep the schedule as consistent as possible with our current schedule, but please be on the lookout for any updates that may occur. It looks like our schedule should remain the same but I will reach out ASAP if there will be any changes moving forward.
For those that are new, please make sure to join our GroupMe so you can stay informed throughout the season - particularly with meet information or practice updates when necessary!

REMINDER - We have started our Summer Practice Schedule which will look slightly different than our current schedule. Our summer schedule will be as follows:
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 - 6:20pm. We will have NO SATURDAY PRACTICES this summer! This keeps us at our 4 hours of practice time a week, just re-arranged to keep weekends free.
Our FR2 "Champions in the Pool" for June are Skylar Campbell and Jamie Voigtman! Both Skylar and Jamie have shown so much growth over the past few months! They have a strong willingness to learn and try new things while also being very focused on our club values. I am so proud of both of these wonderful young athletes and cannot wait to see what they continue to accomplish!
Let's have a great week! :)

REMINDER - We have started our Summer Practice Schedule which will look slightly different than our current schedule. Our summer schedule will be as follows:
-
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 - 6:20pm. We will have NO SATURDAY PRACTICES this summer! This keeps us at our 4 hours of practice time a week, just re-arranged to keep weekends free.
-
- PLEASE make sure you are entering and exiting through Door 10 (the athletic entrance to the high school) for each practice! The Athletic Department has asked that no swimmer or family use the end doors to enter or exit the Natatorium for safety reasons.
- Please make sure your swimmer is prepared for the dropping temperatures at the end of practice! I require for all swimmers to be wearing shoes, a shirt/sweatshirt and pants/shorts to leave the pool area. There are also a variety of germs going around right now, so if your swimmer is not feeling well please use your best judgement in whether or not they are well enough to attend practice.
- We do dryland as a group on WEDNESDAY evenings over the summer from 5:00 - 5:20pm.
- Please help me remind your swimmers to bring all of their equipment as well as a water bottle to practice every day! Having their own equipment and a drink nearby allows us to move through practice more efficiently and get more work done in the time that we have.
- The SSC announcing crew (our wonderful announcers for meets) is looking to grow the group!
- We would like to extend an invite to any Future Royal Parent who would like to give it a try. We have the November Splash on Saturday, and Matt would be glad to show you the ropes during this club-only event. It is a lot of fun and offers you a front row seat to the action - all while counting towards your volunteer obligation to the club when announcing for one of the club hosted/non-Splash meets. Please feel free to reach out to Matt to let me know if you would be interested - [email protected]
Below are a few important reminders/updates:
- Please make sure your swimmer has and is bringing all of their equipment everyday! If there is something you haven’t been able to purchase or you have questions, please let me know, but we are really starting to use fins and kickboard especially each day so it is important that we have what we need to be successful.

For those of you who don’t know me already , here is a quick "About Me" to get to know me better!
My name is Kylie Love (formerly Sutherlin, I recently got married) and I am a Royal at heart! I started my swimming journey at SSC in the lessons program at age 6 and ended my competitive swimming career with SSC the summer before my sennior year of college at age 22. I attended Hamiton Southeastern High School and graduated in 2016, helping bring home a State Runner-Up title my senior year while also being part of the pool and school record-setting 400 Freestyle Relay team in the process. After graduating, I went on to swim and Study Elementary Special Education at Eastern Michigan University. I graduated from EMU in December of 2021 with my teaching degree and decided it was time to come home, not only to Indiana, but to HSE/SSC as well! I got a job as a Special Education teacher here at HSE High School in January of 2022 and have loved it ever since. Swimming has been such a huge part of my life for so long and I am thankful to be back at the club that has provided so much to me, working alongside so many coaches who helped get me to where I am today!
